Two Black Republicans—Byron Donalds in Florida and John James in Michigan—are running for governor, yet critics are asking why there hasn’t been more public attention from one of America’s most prominent civil-rights organizations. Both are among the Black major-party gubernatorial nominees in 2026. And now we have another serious question: Where was the outrage when Hakeem Jeffries was called an “AIPAC monkey” and an “errand boy”? The Congressional Black Caucus condemned those remarks as racist. If the NAACP stands against racism, shouldn’t that standard apply regardless of someone’s political party?
