The Daily Caller News Foundation translated Chinese state media and government pages naming her to at least four posts since 2008. ⠀ Three of those titles were tied to arms of the United Front Work Department, the Communist Party’s overseas influence shop. One contemporaneous report put her as a Wuhan municipal international adviser in 2009, after she left Labor. ⠀ Another named her an adviser to the Jiading branch of the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese from 2012 to 2017. That window crossed her years as Transportation secretary under President Trump. ⠀ Jiading is her father’s hometown. DCNF said United Front pages there ran her biography for years and that Christmas cards went back to 2004 while she was still Labor secretary. ⠀ Her spokesman said she was unaware of the titles, in part because she is not fluent in Chinese, and called the coverage racial discrimination. She has denied wrongdoing. ⠀ A prior Transportation inspector general probe into staff use and her family’s China-linked shipping firm ended after Justice declined a criminal case.
