AND he's lived in both countries which means that I'll put more weight on his opinion than those who have never visited the US. I'm more than happy to take some good natured pokes and ribbing from my distant cousins. I can't fault anyone who is proud of their nation - that, to me, is the mark of someone who's well adjusted. And when I say well adjusted, note that leftists hate everything about their nations no matter where they live! But there's also a part of me that realizes that Britain, unless it does a sharp reversal, is a nation in sharp decline as is the US. This is the price of a civilization - the maintenance and upkeep bill piles up the more projects you put off. Brits are right to be proud. But they (and we) should be working diligently to make the situation a better one instead of watching the decline and either bragging to each other or privately mourning the decline.
