Happy Birthday America! I couldn’t be more proud to celebrate you. This year there is added complexity because July 4th falls on shabbat, a lot of people see that as a hinderance since they think celebrating breaks the sabbath but being that it does not get dark until late this would not happen but ask a rabbi to be sure. One can prepare BBQ before shabbat and use things within walking distances after Havdalah. Does this make it harder? I would say no because it tightens its spiritual complexity. The fact that the 4th falls on shabbat tightens its importance because we mark on a moment in time and celebrate religious freedom and we have weekends because of Judeo-Christian vales and western values and that is a mitzvah as well.
