This Mexican air stamp, released in 1975, celebrates archaeological endeavors in the southern state of Chiapas. The profile likely originates from the Mayan site of Bonampak and depicts a local ruler. Comparing the stamp with a photograph on Wikipedia, the stamp appears to be a depiction Chan Muwan II found on Stele 1. The below stamp is from my mother’s collection.
