#News A man was arrested by the FBI for paying homeless people on Skid Row to sign petitions in support of ballot initiatives, using stolen identities of registered voters, and forging their signatures, according to FBI director Kash Patel #cali Federal agents arrested James Brass, 47 after a grand jury charged him and two petition workers. Courtney Price, 49, of Jacksonville, Florida, and Jateisha Herron, 33, of Boron, California. #LosAngeles All three face conspiracy to commit identity fraud in furtherance of a state felony. Brass and Price also face a separate identity fraud count. Each count carries up to five years in federal prison. Brass pleaded not guilty in Riverside federal court and was released on $10,000 bond. Prosecutors say the trio was operating from February through August. They used a voter database to pull the name and addresses of registered voters then set up shop on Skid Row. #elections They gave the identities to the homeless people and paid them to copy the personal information onto official petitions to sign the documents in the voters' names. Brass and Herron later signed declarations under penalty of perjury claiming they had personally watched the named voters sign. Those petitions were turned in to petition coordinators. Brass was paid about $41,600 from one petition management company for the work. O’Keefe Media Group’s Skid Row series first exposed the fraud with ‘Lord’ and his associates. The exact number of forged signatures and which specific 2026 ballot measures they were collected for have not been made public.
