Congress does not certify the electoral college vote on Jan 6. Every ignorant writer, broadcaster, congress person, judge, and attorney who calls it a certification further convicts J6 defendants accused of 1512(c). There us no friggin' certification by Congress. Dear God please let the ignorant read the 12th Amendment and 3USC sections 15-18. Congress is in a ministerial role to watch the VP count and tally. Objections to state certified certificates are allowed but never will receive a majority objection in both houses. Objections were envisioned in 3USC only. The US Constitution presupposes a legal election was held in each state. Congress sits on its collective butt and watches a count. Not once is the word "certify" used in the law or Constitution for anything Congress does. Cruz wasn't "calling for decertification." He was calling for a ten day investigation - which would have included legality of the election held in contested states (PA, WI, NV, AZ as starters). So read - the purpose was to stop investigation of the legality of the election in 6-7 contested states whose legislatures were just coming back into session and whose governors had literally blocked opening a special session during end of Nov to end if Dec 2020. The article misses the entire boat: electoral certification happens only at states!!! And J6 goal - which was met - was to stop any state legislature from decertifying certificates based on illegalities in the state elections. Stop the stupid!!!!
