I am endorsing Scott Grabins for Chairman Best Chair in the state It has recently come to my attention that a shadowy group of power-hungry malefactors seek to oust our Chairman Scott Grabins from the Chairman position based upon bogus arguments and vague complaints. I will not stand for this! Scott is the best county Chair in the state and runs Dane County like a well-oiled machine! We have more, better & well-attended outreach events than any county in the state. We have bigger attendance for Pints & Politic than even Waukesha county. We have lots of quality training events. We have great premium events for our members including the Lincoln Day dinner that raises thousands of dollars for our party. And we had a full slate of local candidates in both 2020 and 2022. I credit this success to the leadership of our Chairman Scott Grabins. Some county parties like Jefferson, Rock, and Milwaukee are dysfunctional and need leadership changes. Not Dane County! And what is the driving force behind the shadowy malcontents? It seems to be that too many people vote democrat in Dane county. Hello? Dane county is a liberal county with the UW campus, state workers, Wisconsin State Journal, Capital Times, Isthmus newspaper, MATC, liberal TV stations, and liberal radio stations (excepting WIBA AM). Liberals, illegal aliens, and people who want government services are moving here, while conservatives are moving out. Many are sick of the harassment if someone finds out they are a Republican. Yet despite this, the number of Republican votes in Dane county increased modestly in the most recent midterms and presidential elections. Democrat vote numbers increased much more because the county population went up 73,000 in the new census, but this is no reason to blame Scott or the county party. Senator Ron Johnson had a Madison office and won statewide. New State Treasurer John Leiber campaigned all over Dane county and spoke at 10 consecutive Pints & Politics. He won, too. Meanwhile Tim Michels did not have a Dane county office and lost. Do the malevolent malcontents have any ideas to get more votes besides pissing on hard-working volunteers? Did they ever bother to bring their complaints to our attention? Not that I have heard and I attend every monthly Excomm meeting. Our county party is flexible to new ideas, but I am not going to stand for a brute force takeover! I am also wondering how a paid state party worker who isn't even from Dane county is going to magically become a better volunteer chair than Scott Grabins? One proposal I've heard via the grapevine is that the county chair will become a paid position. This is a colossal waste of money. A paid chair would require probably $800 a week, with $300 of that dumped back to income taxes. Meanwhile, we run Pints & Politics for free. If we had an extra $40,000 per year it would be far better spent advertising our outreach and training events, or assisting candidates. I will be voting for Scott Grabins at the county caucus on February 25 and hope you will as well. Sincerely, Rolf Lindgren, Defender of Grabins
