Governor Kotek made the announcement today that she had chosen LaVonne Griffin-Valade for Secretary of State. This is not a too surprising choice, but definitely one out of left field for most Political Pundits in Oregon. It will be interesting to see what path Ms. Griffin-Valade takes. Governor Kotek believes she will “...restore confidence in the office…”. I think this will be a harder task than expected, and with the motion to dismiss the Thielman et al. v. Fagan et al. case alongside it, I believe the duties in front of her will be hard to handle. Ms. Griffin-Valade has not been in office since 2014, and since then she has been writing murder mystery novels. With this being said, Ms. Griffin-Valade may not choose to run for Secretary of State, but it is a bit too early to tell.
