Believers need to get really good at disagreeing with others in a loving way. If you go along with what’s being said in order to get along you probably don’t feel close to others. You probably don’t feel known, and your witness for Christ is severely diminished too. Perhaps ask a question when you disagree about something. “How did you arrive at that conclusion?” “That’s an interesting belief, have you ever thought about___?” “I see you have a strong opinion on that, but I actually see it differently…” Obviously if it’s a believer; ask how do they reconcile that conclusion when scripture says “…?” You will quickly understand if you are talking to a Biblically orientated person or not. I think you’ll find that people are pretty receptive to another view actually, when it’s brought in a loving and respectful way. At times too you will have to “shake off the dust from your feet” and move on. Instead of silence, let’s be fully ourselves. Let’s share Godly perspectives instead of letting self-preservation set in. It’s in disagreement at times that God will use you! “And we urge you, brothers, admonish the idle, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with them all.” -1 Thessalonians 5:14
