🍲 Mennonite Borscht🍲 I saw this in someone's comment so I had to look it up. "The Ukrainians made borsch, and the Mennonites of the Ukraine borrowed the soup but substituted cabbage as the main ingredient rather than beets, and called it Borscht." This is not surprising. The "Russian" Mennonites were actually German, invited to settle Ukraine (then Russia) by Catherine the Great in the 18th century. They lived in prosperity for about 140 years until the Bolshevik jews came to power in #Russia and slaughtered them in the #Holodomor.
