Everyone is on Twitter or Facebook and it's been likened to being the public square. But it's hard to gain followers on twitter and even harder to have conversations when your replies end up at the bottom under hidden tweets that most ppl don't bother to read. By being added to hidden tweets you become removed from the conversation. The likelihood of receiving a like or thumbs up or someone even responding to your comment which opens up a civil discourse between two or more people. Twitter and Facebook then uses algorithms which allows your content to bypass so many people, people who may need to hear what you have to say, people who may want to hear what you have to say but never see your content. In other words if you don't agree politically with the political values of facebook or twitter you become buried, hidden and out of sight. So many ppl(small time Conservatives) are on twitter are oblivious just tweeting away as if they were actually contributing to a conversation. The only thing you are contributing to is putting your name and comments in the hidden section where the likelihood of anyone seeing it is next to none. Since I joined gab. I've had more interaction with people I agree with and dont and have had good conversations, bad conversations and even heated debates. There's no hidden replies section, there's no algorithm.
