Okay ... if kids born here can't be deported -- that does NOT apply to their parents. If the parents can be deported, they should be. But what about the kids? Orphanages. Gigantic institutions where they will be raised knowing that their parents, who had a choice to bring them along, chose to leave them behind instead. Right now, parents of anchor babies get to collect all sorts of bennies and even get a free place to live and stuff due to the status of their kid. Instead, take all of that away. The parents ARE getting deported. They can take their child, or leave it. But if they leave it, it will go into an orphanage. Once the anchor baby no longer yields a benefit to the parents, the anchor baby situation will diminish greatly. The birth tourism problem is a different kettle of fish. These are babies born here so they are American citizens, and then raised in China etc. As adults they will be qualified for jobs that are limited to American citizens, such as sensitive jobs in national defense. Even though they were raised in a hostile country with that country's values and loyalties. I propose solving this problem by extending diplomatic sovereignty: pregnant woman from foreign countries have diplomatic status. When diplomats have babies here, those babies are citizens of whatever country their parents are citizens of, and not the US.
