So I have typed, edited and completely deleted several posts regarding my jasper mine adventure due to length. I have come to the conclusion I can't make it as short as I would like, but I will try my best to make it as short as possible. Claim rights expire every September so I am waiting until September to submit my paperwork to avoid having to pay to renew claim immediately. Next claims, if there are any, will be much smoother now that I figured out the procedures. I currently have to do all my cutting and polishing via a generator and trip to the desert, so hopefully we can make enough to justify renting a small space to setup my tools and make the process easier and more efficient. I ordered a clamp that I can modify some and hopefully make cutting consistent slabs a possiblity on our 10" wet saw. With any luck I will post some successful slabs this weekend. I will get some slabs and specimens posted that will be for sale as soon as the paperwork is finalized. I am getting past some learning curves and obstacles when it comes to polishing stones. It turns out there are a ton of factors that will diminish final polish quality and unfortunately there are a couple things I currently can't avoid, but I did find a work around that is perfect for anyone who wants them just for display. Anyone wanting to make cabochons for jewelry will be better off buying whole specimens or unpolished slabs because beeswax is my secret weapon to get a mirror finish and will make working with the stone more difficult than it should be for such applications. I will definitely specify whether any stone up for sale has been polished and waxed so anyone interested will know. As soon as i get county approval i will be designing and launching a website so i can hopefully cut back on seller fees from ebay and/or etsy. I plan on running a few polls in here to help design the website and would really appreciate your input on them. I will have a chat with Platinum Coyote about this before I post them. I would like to thank this group for all of the support and input and allowing me to post about the journey in here! I won't be flooding the group feed with rocks, but I will definitely get the best shit up for grabs posted here first. Believe it or not I cut a fair amount of information from this post and it still wound up way too long for my liking. Lol
