In Utah, formal CPR, AED, and first aid certification is not mandated by the state for the initial issuance of a private security officer license, though the basic training curriculum includes modules on emergency response. However, the state’s continuing education requirements for license renewal (every two years) explicitly require security officers to maintain current certification in at least one of the following: Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) Automated external defibrillator (AED) First aid Any other recognized basic life-saving certification While the state licensing board does not enforce this for the initial guard card, employers and specific job sites (such as healthcare facilities, schools, or corporate offices) often require current CPR/First Aid certification as a condition of employment.
