► Time Travel Moment : Kingsport 1946 - 2021 Play Ball Kingsport ! The J. Fred Johnson Stadium was built in 1942 on a 63 acre tract of land. Kingsport wrote that they at last had an ultramodern stadium "for outdoor games, public gatherings, and as a drill ground for its units of State Guards." With official baseball club sponsored by H. Joseph Higgins, Kingsport's Appalachian Baseball League team at last had a stadium of their own.
