Superior Court Justice William Sullivan has ordered the identities of the empaneled jurors impounded for 14 days, citing direct safety concerns after the case exploded into what he called "𝘴𝘪𝘨𝘯𝘪𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘥𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘢𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯" in Massachusetts, nationally and internationally. The order wasn't precautionary. Sullivan's ruling references a shocking breach that already happened: someone was arrested and charged for "𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘳𝘦𝘱𝘵𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘶𝘴𝘭𝘺 𝘷𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘰 𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘳𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘫𝘶𝘳𝘰𝘳𝘴 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘵." Someone was tracking these people down in real time, and the court moved to protect them before it went further. The reason the jury became a target in the first place: the panel split 11-1 to acquit Clancy, who admits she strangled her three young children, Cora, Dawson, and Callan, and argued she was in the grip of postpartum psychosis. One juror — reportedly one of only three men on the panel — refused to go along with the majority, held to his oath, and forced the mistrial rather than sign off on a verdict he didn't believe in. That single act of conscience is exactly why the court had to step in. Clancy's own defense attorney publicly savaged the holdout on camera within hours of the mistrial being declared, and outside the courthouse, crowds of Clancy supporters made their feelings about that juror very clear. The order doesn't bar him from ever speaking publicly — it just keeps the mob from finding him first. Prosecutors have until September 29th to decide whether to retry Clancy, offer a plea, or drop the charges.
