Fossil fuels are only "cheap" because the companies behind them pay no tax while also getting massive subsidies from the government. That means that taxpayers are paying enormous amounts of money to artificially make a dead industry compete on price with renewables. Keep this in mind whenever a politician claims that renewable energy is "expensive".
