Miliband is set to announce a ban on trade with illegal Israeli settlements, in an attempt to halt settler violence and rescue the prospect of a Palestinian state. The move has provoked fierce criticism from Israel, the US and the British right-wing press. But the planned sanctions could also mark a significant shift in British foreign policy.
