Today’s Prayer September 7, 2026 Good morning dear heavenly Father! I wake to pray! In Jesus’ name I pray for wisdom. Father, if we search Scripture, we will find what is needed to be wise. Solomon said, “Do not eat the bread of a miser, nor desire his delicacies; for as he thinks in his heart, so is he. ‘Eat and drink!’ he says to you, but his heart is not with you. The morsel you have eaten, you will vomit up, and waste your pleasant words.” (Proverbs 23:6-8) Lord, there is always a danger when we associate with a rich miser, for he desires to increase his wealth at a poor man’s expense. The rich man’s words are not true! When we speak the pleasant words of the gospel, he will not hear! As he thinks in his heart, so he is. He thinks he’s rich, but according to You, dear God, he’s poor! Father, I know it’s natural; yes, it’s human to want to be secure and prosperous. With prosperity many will find comfort. But true prosperity cannot come without obedience to You. Lord, I pray our hearts would be as You’ve taught us, pure and holy. I pray again to be like a tree planted by a river. “Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper.” (Psalm 1:1-3) Lord, I pray my prosperity would be for Your kingdom. If any man prospers without You, he has wasted the very thing that his heart desires. “The wicked will see it and be grieved; he will gnash his teeth and melt away; the desire of the wicked shall perish.” (Psalm 112:10) As he thinks in his heart, so he is. He thinks he’s rich, but he’s poor. “The ungodly are not so, but are like the chaff which the wind drives away. Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. For the Lord knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the ungodly shall perish.” (Psalm 1:4-6) As he thinks in his heart, so he is. He’s poor and will perish. “Praise the Lord! Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, who delights greatly in His commandments. He has dispersed abroad, he has given to the poor; his righteousness endures forever; his horn will be exalted with honor.” (Psalm 112:1, 9) Here is the wisdom we should embrace! The true gospel does not teach prosperity! The true gospel teaches the love of Christ and the repentance of sinners. Father, it is sufficient to receive Your grace! We are most prosperous when we have Jesus! Father, I pray people would understand and desire Your gift of salvation through Christ Jesus. If there’s anything else I need to do to bring glory to Jesus, please show me what to do. In Jesus’ blessed and precious name I pray, amen. Ben Everything I have belongs to God.
