@tessNV Hello! I read your bio - great minds think alike. I am proud to be a Christian, and a staunch Constitutionalist, very pro-life, and pro limited government. When you talked about your poor roots in the Dustbowl of OK, it hit home, bc both of my parents grew up dirt-poor in MS. I would like to share a story about my parents that illustrates how serving God and Faith in prayer, combined with education, plus the willingness to work hard and persevere can lift you from whatever shackles you may wear in this world. First of all, everyone needs to embrace the truth that 👉🏼 you are not alone! Christ is always with you. “Walk with Him and talk w Him along life’s narrow way!” as the hymn says. Here is their story. As I said before, both of my parents grew up in severe poverty in MS, both in large families. My paternal grandfather was a pos who ran off with👏🏼 my 👏🏼 grandmother’s 👏🏼 friend 👏🏼 when my dad was about 5. My mom grew up in a hovel on a farm in the backwoods of MS, but there was a lot of love and devout Faith in The Lord in both of their homes. It got them all through so much. Education was highly valued, and with a strong work ethic they both went to college. My mother became an account, and my dad joined the Marines and got a Masters in Electrical Engineering a MSU (Go Dawgs!) 😁 They left their MS towns and headed to Houston after my dad landed a job at Lockheed/NASA. He was part of every Space Shuttle launch during his years there and worked in Mission Control. He received many awards, including the official Snoopy Award given to the Astronauts after each mission. He also displays his SLS (?) awards from the shuttle launch program. They cover a wall. He doesn’t suffer fools who blame their situation or childhoods for their choices or as an excuse not to try, etc. They haven’t forgotten their roots, however. I have so many fond memories of visiting my maternal grandmother in the “shack” my mom grew up in. I had the best time. There were cousins, aunts, and uncles there, and I don’t ever remember it being crowded in that tiny house. I loved that house and my Mawmaw and PawPaw so much❣️When it was torn down, a piece of my heart went with it. However or wherever your physical body grows up isn’t nearly as important as how your mind and spirit grow. It’s never too late if your body, mind, or spirit wasn’t fed back then if you focus on Christ our Savior!
