72nd Secretary of State Marco Rubio Overrides Gov Tim Walz's Pardon, Deports Laotian Sex Offender from Minnesota (U.S.A.) Tou Lue Vang, a 42-year-old Laotian refugee convicted of first-degree criminal sexual conduct against a girl under 13, received a stayed sentence and long probation in 2005. On June 10, 2026, Gov. Tim Walz and the Minnesota Board of Pardons granted clemency after an exhaustive review, including victim approval, to help his immigration case—he has a wife and six U.S. children. The Department of Homeland Security and Rubio condemned it as protecting a child abuser, revoking his status and deporting him Friday, permanently barring return amid state-federal clashes. Rubio: Laotian national Tou Lue Vang was convicted of sexually abusing a 10-year-old girl in Minnesota. He was set to be deported until @GovTimWalz issued him a pardon. Then, I revoked his legal status. @ICEgov has removed him from the U.S. and he will never endanger another American. This pardon came just a week before Vang was set to be REMOVED from our nation. During his interviews with police, Vang tried to justify his actions by saying “it is a cultural thing…to marry and have sex with girls as young as 12.” Governor Walz’s pardon shielded this CHILD RAPIST from removal from our nation. This is the type of DISGUSTING criminal sanctuary politicians are shamelessly protecting. Others are Saying: The Trump administration officials criticized the pardon, denouncing Mr. Walz and other Democratic leaders in the state.
