In this game, it needs to be understood that for handguns, "better" is relative for its class. Meaning that any handgun is going to be massively outmatched by any other firearm class in the game. So actually whatever handgun you use is not going to matter that much. The game has a .357 Magnum but it is impractical. The game also has a 9mm Beretta (and it is not bad for a handgun) but you might as well pick a pump shotgun or even an SMG at close range anyway. Yes, a pump shotgun is much slower but it will basically one shot nearly anything, you just need to aim.
