The United States Military used to be full of men like me who exhibited these traits but our leaders now are apparently moral cowards. Because they lack the simple courage to say “No”. We are supposed to be the bravest, protecting our Nation and fellow Citizens but it seems like we have become addicted to the easy paycheck and will do anything to preserve it. I will not sell my birthright for the Army’s bowl of porridge. I would be happy to discuss my reasons in front of anyone and to anyone. I write this letter knowing full well that it will most likely be used against me to harm my career but I must speak the truth, because no one else will. Courage truly is the rarest of virtues.
