There’s one major problem with making the comparison right now: the ratings aren’t in yet. The NFL opener aired nationally on NBC and Peacock, while Trump’s convention was distributed across television coverage and multiple independent livestreams. That means determining a true combined audience for the convention could require adding viewership across several platforms. So Trump has made the claim, but there currently isn’t enough public data to independently verify it.
