They have devolved into contrarians which requires even less brainpower than being a zealot but is very marketable to other misfits. All they can do is recruit other contrarians to sinecures and managerial positions. Unfortunately contrarians can’t run complex systems like government, education or healthcare and everything is turning to shit because of it.
