Using everything I have learned from the last year, I engineered a better version of my all sky camera. This one is performing much better than my previous one. While much of the setup is similar to the first, this time I kept in mind everything I wished I had done differently. Here's a few things I learned: Heat is bad. Heat ruins your nice things. Fresh airflow helps reduce that massively. The sun is still a deadly laser and will continue to fry your things no matter what, given enough time. Your all sky enclosure doesn't actually need to be sealed, so long as you can keep water and bugs out. It also doesn't have to be waterproof if it isn't going underwater, which I wouldn't recommend if you're trying to take pictures of the sky. To make things easier to maintain, I moved the camera off the lid of the enclosure and on to its own particular mounting solution. Its now sitting on an attachment for an old guidescope I don't use. Having more room to maneuver inside the enclosure is a massively underrated improvement. It also helps keep things cooler and allows for much beefier cooling options. Just like the first enclosure, half of the fun for me is simply building it. I also enjoyed employing some of the different ideas I had over the last year into a new design for my all sky cameras enclosure. This one should be much easier to tinker with, if I ever need to.
