https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5GiF5cnL_sU The Average Woodsman I Took a Canoe Into the Woods With Only What I Could Carry I loaded my canoe with the gear I actually carry and headed into the Florida backcountry to find a place to make camp. In this adventure, I paddle into the woods with Misti, choose a campsite away from the thick vegetation along the water, set up a tarp shelter using a fallen pine, make fire with a fire piston, and put several practical bushcraft and wilderness skills to use. Along the way, I also look at some of the natural resources around camp, including American beautyberry and wax myrtle, and discuss how plants like wax myrtle have traditionally been used in the outdoors. This isn't about pretending to survive with nothing. It's about getting into the woods, using practical skills, and enjoying a simple canoe camp with the gear and knowledge I've built up over the years. If you're into bushcraft, canoe camping, wilderness survival, self-reliance, wild edibles, traditional skills, and outdoor adventures, you're in the right place. What would you bring on a canoe trip like this?
