How can our sins be forgiven? The natural answer is, “I must do something to make up for what I have done.” But Jesus did not send His disciples to preach penance, religious works, or self-punishment. He sent them to preach repentance for the forgiveness of sins in His name. Forgiveness is found in Christ, not in trying to pay for sin ourselves.
