So here in NZ, we have an accident insurance scheme (ACC) run by the government. For whatever reason, the outcome is that, if you have an accident your treatment is much better funded than just going through the public health system. So this week, they've decided that various birthing mishaps are covered as "accidents". Well, ok. But *then* they tell us that "this will help correct the inequities of ACC". Got that? Women have fewer accidents, so that means that ACC discriminates against them, because they then get less money spent on them. Seriously.
