My investigative reporting related to 9/11 received two Emmy Awards 11 years apart: Red Cross Fraud related to 9/11 donations and Benghazi. If you’re interested in backstory, read on. We did a series for the CBS Evening News proving that the Red Cross stole, mismanaged, and misdirected masses of 9/11 donations that poured in after the attacks. The Red Cross repeatedly denied it and, after my stories aired, falsely claimed on their website that I hadn’t contacted them. Fortunately, I had all the many email exchanges over a period of weeks showing them refusing to provide information or agree to an interview. Backstory: The Red Cross denied the veracity of the internal audits and whistleblower information I reported on. What they didn’t know was that I had an impeccable off-camera source: The head of the Red Cross herself: Dr. Bernadine Healy. I got tipped off to the fraud and mismanagement, and worked with Dr. Healy and others on the inside to get copies of the actual audits showing the Red Cross knew it had a big problem. It turns out Dr. Healy was disgusted when she caught her own agency, running on institutional autopilot, misdirecting 9/11 funds for unintended purposes. When she tried to implement reforms, the establishment at the Red Cross attacked and marginalized her. But this is how I got such solid information that I knew was correct even as the “Red Cross” formally denied all of it. For Benghazi (video of the first story will be in this thread): I did many stories for CBS on the Islamic extremist terrorist attacks in Benghazi, Libya on 9/11/12. That scandal was three-fold: Dying for Security: The poor American who were murdered had begged for security beforehand. The State Dept. under Hillary Clinton had received specific warnings about a 9/11 terrorist attack on that installation and others but drew down security rather than reinforcing it. Dying to be Rescued: I was able to show that the Americans could have been rescued— or at least genuine attempts made, as the assaults went on for so long. But the Obama administration turned back rescuers on several fronts. The poor victims were left helpless. They never had a chance. The Coverup: I also proved many facets of an elaborate coverup at the highest levels just prior to President Obama’s re-election to a) pretend it wasn’t related to 9/11, particularly because Obama claimed he’d send terrorists on the run b) pretend the attackers weren’t terrorists, but rioters-gone-amok c) pretend the attacks were “spontaneous” rather than preplanned with lots of warnings d) coverup the repeated security requests and denials e) coverup the availability of rescue operations that were turned back.
