A comparison of cults/false religions and genuine Christianity (NOT A COMPLETE LIST): CULTS/FALSE RELIGIONS... Dietary Restrictions Animal Sacrifices Door-to-door witnessing Man-plans Soul Sleep Religious Rituals Transcendental Meditation Purgatory Eternal Nothing Communes Limited Atonement Passion Translation/Another Testament of Jesus Christ/Clear Word Bible/Book of the Law/Ten Commandments/Book of Mormon/New World translation of the Holy Scriptures/Book of Satan/Torah/Mishnah/etc./etc./etc. Watchtower Society Investigative Judgment Doctrines of Demons “Blacklisting” Annihilationism Tithing B.C. Era law Salvation by Works – External stuff - Earn your salvation – “The more you do the more approved you’ll be.” The harmful “-isms” in general Confession Booth Synagogue Kingdom Hall “Goats” Dead Faith AUTHENTIC CHRISTIANITY... The Gospel – The Good News – The finished work of Jesus Fruit of the Spirit Live as salt and light Apart from Jesus, a person accomplishes 100% of 0% Proper Motives Salvation by faith, trusting that finished work of Jesus Grace – Internal stuff Total dependence on everything “Trinity” Salvation’s a gift “Sheep” Living (or “Saving”) Faith ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** “The main thing is to make sure the main thing is the main thing because without that main thing, you’ve got no thing.” Forever’s a long time. Naturally, that “main thing” is the finished work of Jesus (2 Corinthians 13:5). EVERYONE needs a savior (1 John 1:8-10) since the evil of mankind runs so deep there’s absolutely NOTHING anyone in this fallen world can ever do to rectify it. 2 CORINTHIANS 13:5 (BSB) Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Jesus Christ is in you—unless you fail the test? 1 JOHN 1:8-10 (BSB) If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say we have not sinned, we make Him out to be a liar, and His word is not in us. https://biblehub.com/ For one to be labeled a “Christian” means that person is a “Christ follower”. (A note of caution here is how there’s a difference between imitating Jesus and trusting the finished work of Jesus.) (SIDE NOTE: The term “Christ” is a title, not a name. It means either “Anointed One” or “Messiah”. “Jesus” means “The LORD is salvation”.) (ANOTHER SIDE NOTE: Don’t forget that “LORD” (all caps) in the Old Testament is the HEBREW word. It’s a reference to “Yahweh”. By contrast, “Lord” in the New Testament is the GREEK word. It’s a reference to “Jesus”, which is the English translation of the word “Yeshua”. And yet, they are one in the same...but yet they are not...but yet they are one in same...but yet they are not...but...MORE MYSTERY TIME!)
