Prediction #1: The government’s “stamp it out” approach for Omicron will not work. Reason: If lockdown (a more restrictive measure than the Red light) couldn’t stop Delta, why would Red light (a wildly less restrictive measure) stop Omicron (a wildly more infections variant)? Prediction #2: The government will delay reinstalling freedoms in order to put pressure on the public to get vaccine boosters, and at some arbitrary point after Omicron has become endemic claim their strategy all along was to delay the spread thereby flatten the curve of hospitalisations and death and that it was an complete success (despite Omicron being less severe symptoms and no deaths). Prediction #3: Exerting this kind of control and pressure on people and dealing this dishonestly will come back to bite them on the ass in the next election. Labour (and the block parties on the political left) will loose influence in parliament, if not the election outright.
