So apparently City council (all four of them present) retreated into "executive session" Monday night so the prying ears of the taxpayer were blocked. This blanket immunity phrase is always invoked by Talbert by claiming they are "discussing economic incentives with a prospect" or something like that. THEN, on Tuesday, Bernie Witcher reports that the executive session was "to allow the city manager to develop agreements with Hillside Acres and Hidden Oaks Subdivision under the parameters discussed in the Executive Session." So, putting two and two together, it seems that maybe these new developers ARE the "economic prospect"? Which means they are definitely considering giving away MORE tax dollars to rich developers? The worst part is that even though THREE council members were absent, one of those present was my opponent in the upcoming election: TJ Monroe. She has a long history of very stupid tax dollar handouts. Something tells me she didn't suddenly become a negotiating genius overnight. I have a suggestion on something Council can give away for free: TJ Monroe. Give her the boot in the May election and vote for me: a $10 plastic owl. Remember my motto: I've eaten mice and small birds smarter than these people.
