On the list of fall projects: A solar install on the main house water heater now, after having done the shop and auxiliary kitchen water heaters to solar. Installed five 245w panels on the roof yesterday and worked on getting the wiring into the basement today. Ran the wires from the panels down thru a piece of 2" conduit with an LB into the basement. In the basement, ran to a Midnite combiner box with one pair of #6 wires out to a 40 amp single pole disconnect. Ready now to run to the 120 gallon tank that I mounted a 1200w 36v DC element in, the have to plumb that tank (which will pre-heat water going into the propane fired tank in the background) to the propane tank, and hopefully cut our propane use a bunch. That twin red maple, and possibly a white oak to the right (out of frame) may have to come down, as they do a lot of morning shading on the panels (photo about 10am). I'll watch production over winter and decide.
