The British socialist government discussed invading Rhodesia! Never mind the tyrannical African-led governments which they supported but the country run by Britons with WW2 hero Ian Smith at the helm! Instead they joined forces with America and the USSR (so much for the Cold War) and crippled Rhodesia: "Rather than an invasion, the British government opted for economic sanctions, diplomatic isolation, and naval blockades to pressure the rogue regime."
