I've been thinking a lot about baptism lately and, though raised to believe in adult confessional baptism only, I cannot find a logical or biblical reason not to baptize the children of professing Christian parents. If salvation is God's work alone, then His covenantal promise to those who are His elect gives them confidence to assume that He has also chosen their children and that they are in His grace. His command to baptize those who are a part of His elect people then means that you should baptize the children. If salvation is not God's work alone, then there is no possible argument to reject that baptism is a required work of it, in which case baptizing the children of Christians is a requirement of their salvation. In either case, baptizing children is a required profession of faith of the parents of children, as ordained and commanded by Jesus Christ Himself. To refuse to do so is to stand in direct opposition to God.
