Their claims to have had no such intention have so far only resulted in preventing any light from being shed ~~on the true meaning of Freemasonry.~~ Nor is it any argument for Freemasonry that the radicals fight Freemasonry as a matter of course. This only happens after the radicals have seized power. The best example of this process is the rise of Bolshevism. When it was seen that many French Communists belonged to Masonic lodges, the following resolution was issued in 1923 by the 4th Congress of the Internationale: >**It is necessary for the leading organs of the Party to cut all the bridges leading to the bourgeoisie, and to break radically with Freemasonry.** The Communist Party must be fully aware of the abyss which separates the proletariat from the bourgeoisie. **But some of the leading elements in the Party have built camouflaged bridges over that abyss, by serving Freemasonry.**
