Tatiana, our tour guide of Jardin Botanico Vallarta was excellent. I learned so much from her. A couple of things here: did you know the vanilla plant (where you get the vanilla bean) is actually an orchid? Si, esta verdad. (Yes that's true.) And cacao (the cocoa bean plant) isn't what makes chocolate so good, rather it's the quality of the milk you combine it with. And Switzerland has the best milk, so THAT'S why their chocolate is the best. The cacao pods are ripe when they turn yellow, and we saw some of them. Some of the plants there are also found here. I saw coleus, bromeliad, lady slipper, donkey tail succulent, and more. They do have one covered area dedicated just for native plants, however.
