Vienna Sausage and Beans from the US Army Cookbook This recipe was part of the U.S. Army Technical Manual TM 10-412 from 1946, used in field kitchens. The B Ration Vienna Sausage and Beans was a standard U.S. Army field meal during WWII, designed for troops when fresh meat or A Ration wasn’t available. It combined preserved Vienna sausage with canned beans, bacon, and tomato-based sauce Ingredients Beans, white: Three 14.5 oz cans Onions: Two cups, diced Bacon, diced: 1/2 lbs Diced Tomatoes, Three 14.5 oz cans Sugar: Three teaspoons Dry mustard: Two tablespoons Salt: One teaspoons Pepper: One to two teaspoons Garlic powder and smoked paprika Vienna sausage: Four 4.5 oz cans If you don't like Vienna Sausage or just want to upgrade the recipe, use other meats or sausages. This is quite tasty as is.
