Happy Black History Month! Here's a piece of Black History to remember: Jesse Washington. He was a 27 year old Black man who was hired as a famr hand by a White farmer, George Fryer in Robinson, Texas. On May 8, 1916, Washington had beaten, raped, and murdered Lucy Fryer, the farmer's wife. In court, Washington was found guilty, and the people who attended his trial dragged Washington out of the courtroom in chains. The crowd then tortured and burned Washington alive while they lynched him. Those were the days when White men had the balls to put criminals in their place.
