PROLOGUE The Axis Beyond the North Wind Before the maps of men, before Rome named the roads and before the skalds carved runes into bone, there was the Land Beyond the Boreas — Hyperborea — where the Sun circled but never died, and where those marked by Fate were forged beneath a sky that knew both radiance and ruin. It is written in fragments preserved by Hellenic initiates, whispered among druids of oak-shadow, sung by Norse völur beside frost-lit fires, and encoded within the left-hand petals of Tantric scripture: When a child is born divided, the Axis shifts. When a twin is lost, a gate remains open. And thus begins the tale of the Twice-Born.
