The #WorldsWorstFuturist predicts: A growing chasm between AI and Robotics. As advances continue in both fields, human nature will come into play for future designs. Specifically, the trend of humans to accept AI personalities very easily -- especially those that can converse -- while at the same time, these same humans are becoming increasingly antagonistic toward robots. Longtime followers (Bless you both) will remember that I predicted the 'uncanny valley' problem would eventually force robots to actually be LESS human-looking, and they will evolve into cartoonish character forms. Shorter, baby-faced robots, appealing to the human inborn tendency to like and protect children. As AI personalities improve, people will come to accept and love them. However, the more robots interact with the public, then the more animosity will be fueled. Expect a LOT of attacks on robots as they become more like us... but not quite. I'm sure that many will find that kicking almost-human robots is fun. Eventually, friendly AI personalities will be installed in lovable cartoon mascots and dolls, so then things will settle down.
