Frankly buying and holding American stocks will crush the effect of the derivatives market On the US economy. The derivatives market, and most of the financial markets only make wall street money if they continue to have a certain degree of liquidity to them. So long as money and stocks can flow around and change hands easily, it makes them money. If, hypothetically speaking, American stocks were held by American investors who were absolutely unwilling to allow them to move, wallstreets power over American markets would be crushed.
