Title : Welcome to new member and General Suggestions. 1. Welcome . There are several possible suggestions difficult to rule out from a distance. The EXACT situation is unknown here. We know that contents of posted question, visitors, and readers are not Newbies and not any new issues to Taiji. We are all learning here. With diplomacy and diversity, all members probably use different methods, have different valuable skills, and taught in different schools and countries. 2. A CNTN video from “Chen Xiaowang Explains Taiji Quan (Eng sub)” on Youtube may be of interest. Laoshi Chen Xiaowang explains that poor Qi circulation problems are caused by incorrect posture. That is bottom hip out of line, holding head forward, overextended knees, and spine not as erect as possible. Admittedly, a single photo taken at an oblique angle is difficult to assess. One simple way to perceive the Qi Energy is the Wei Dan method from PRC China, pronounced “Why Don” in American English. Wei Dan has many techniques and schools originating in China, including the Taiji Chinese Exercises and Qigong Chinese Energy Work. 3######### >>>>Boiled down.<<<<< The Wei Dan method creates Local Qi in the arms and legs by exercising the limbs. And then the Wei Dan method moves and stores the Qi Energy in the Dantian Tummy for perceiving, feeling, and using the Qi Energy for health. 4#### Here is how I first learned to perceive the Qi Energy. Stand upright with bent knees and raise arms and hands like holding an imaginary large beach ball or basketball at the level of the heart and chest. Put all the body weight on the Right leg with a slightly bent knee and the Left leg can be in tip toe or lightly on the ball of the left foot. Some people and exercises use equal weight on both feet like Qigong Chinese Energy Work, but unequal weight on feet is used in the Taiji Chinese Exercises. Keep this position of raised hands for 5 minutes as the Local Qi Energy will accumulate in the arms. The longer one keeps the hands up at heart level, the more Local Qi Energy is created. 5#### After 5 five minutes or so of the Wuji Stance, drop the imaginary Qi Energy ball in your hands to waist level or to level of navel, not touching the hands together. After a minute or so, the blood and Qi should fall from the upper arms with a heavy, red tingling feeling, or thickening feeling in the hands and fingers. After dropping ones hands down about a minute or so, one should be able to feel the Qi energy. The heavy or thickening feeling in the hands and possibly the hands turning red are the results of Qi Energy being stored at the level of the Dantian tummy. Continuing this Wei Dan exercise or moving in the various Taiji forms will eventually lead one to feeling the energy as either stationary Qi Energy or moving Qi Energy in many parts of the body. 6##### Low Impact and seniors. Best suggestions for low impact and seniors are the short Taiji forms such as Brocade8, Yang13, Sun12, and Chen13, which are all designed for the whole mind and body, to include the energy meridians. Other recommended short Taiji forms for low impact and seniors include Yang10 (Yang family), Sun10 (Sun family), Chen10 (Chen family), He10 (He family), WuJianquan10 (Wu family), Lam12 (Dr. Lam), and WuHao10 (Wu & Hao family). The Tai Chi philosophy is to balance the mind and all the organs as a happy family. The Chinese Taiji masters believe that treating one meridian by itself alone may imbalance the whole system and the supporting meridians. The usual Yang classes here for USA seniors are about 2/3 warm up with Brocade8 and followed by 1/3 Yang form.
