STATEMENT FROM JIM SALEAM - PARTY LEADER NATIONALISTS AND ’THE RIGHT’ Some players and play-actors would have it that Australian Nationalism should be described as part of ‘the Right’. Some may place us within a ‘Dissident Right’ – or some such similar. But Australian Nationalism is neither Left nor Right. To place us along a continuum with rightists, means that we end up somewhere with Liberal-connected ‘conservatives’ after passing through a dissident (sic) group who have the proverbial ‘two bob each way’., people who never make up their minds. Those who want us to be on that continuum actually aim to rob us of what we are. They may do it out of bad conscience, or they may do it because they think it’s a sensible notion, but the result is the same. Australian Nationalism represents an unbroken tradition that seeks an independent country for a unique people, possessing the wealth of the nation in a free society. The Right, in whatever mode it comes, is burdened with overseas considerations and class-riven philosophies, with pretence and craven submission. We are sure the odd rightist will make the transition to Australian Nationalism, but we tell them squarely that we do not want ‘unity’ with them, but rather their submission to the Australian truth!
