Just across the harbor from New York City, in Bayonne, New Jersey—on the far side of the Statue of Liberty—stands the 9/11 “Tear Drop” Memorial. Few people talk about it. The 100-foot monument was given to the United States by the people of Russia in 2006 to honor everyone who died on September 11, 2001. A jagged split in its façade suggests the Twin Towers. Suspended inside is a massive teardrop, meant to represent the grief of the whole world that day. This memorial deserves a lot more recognition than it's been given.
