AI agents haven't taken off because: 1) They require lots of data. To do stuff for you, they need to know all your families preferences, schedules, have access to emails, etc. Lot to give up to a third party. 2) They make mistakes. Even with data, they sometimes still get it wrong. This is fixable when there is a human-in-the-loop, but the whole selling point of these is that they can do stuff for you without you being there. 3) They require technical skill. Setting them up is still daunting for non-tech people. Tech people might say they are simple, but consider the skill level needed for chatbots is "texting" and many still find them difficult. Most don't have a lot of tasks that they are willing to expend a lot of technical work to surrender their personal data to have done poorly. Fix those any it might change. P.S. Biggest place they are used now is coding and business - where data is not personal, most have technical skill, and mistakes don't impact personal life.
