University of Illinois researchers have developed 3D-printed vanilla cookies made from plastic bottles and corn waste using genetically engineered yeast. The project, originally part of NASA’s Deep Space Food Challenge, aims to address both plastic pollution and food scarcity by converting PET plastic into edible protein.
