When I was a senior in high school, the first of the Star Wars prequel movies came out. There had been a 16 year gap in between Star Wars VI and Star Wars I. The result was an observable generational split in the opinion of the franchise that is still evident 27 years later. I thought about this recently when I realized that there will be more time in between Elder Scrolls games than Star Wars movies. The generation of gamers who enjoyed Oblivion and Skyrim will not be the same people playing whatever TES6 is when it finally releases 19-20 years after the most recent previous title. I don't see how this is good for gaming, when the most successful titles go two decades in between releases.
